The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in the field of orthopaedic surgery, aligning with our mission and vision to:

We are pleased to offer three full scholarships ($1500) for visiting medical students from diverse backgrounds to rotate through the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist in Winston-Salem, NC.
Eligibility:
- This scholarship is intended for students who identify as underrepresented in medicine based on race/ ethnicity (Black/African‐American, LatinX, American Indian/Alaskan Native), gender (female), sexual orientation (LGBTQ+), or from an economically disadvantaged background.
- Students who apply based on identifying as 'economically disadvantaged' or having a financial situation that is deemed as 'low' or 'very low' income, must meet the criteria found in the Health Resources & Services Administration definitions of environmentally disadvantaged or economically disadvantaged located at the following link: https://bhw.hrsa.gov/glossary#:~:text=Disadvantaged%20Background&text=A%20person's%20environment%20inhibited%20them,from%20a%20health%20professions%20school
